Wednesday 24 June 2024 – 1 pm to 1:45 pm
For this final concert at the Cathedral before the summer break, we were treated to the Suites for Two Pianos by Sergei Rachmaninoff brought to us by Paul Bateman and Roderick Elms. Video Extract from the Second Suite The music for this superb recital was supplemented with some poems read for us by the Cathedral Dean, Canon John Harvey. Each poem was Rachmaninoff’s original inspiration for the four movements of the First Suite.photo – Jake Scicinski Poems

We are immensely grateful to our two wonderful pianists, who brought us this lovely music by Rachmaninoff.
It was a really excellent recital, greatly appreciated by a large audience; and it brought our current series of recitals to a very appropriate climax.
We look forward to restarting our concerts and recitals in the autumn.
