Chingyan LO – Royal College of Music
Organ Recital
Wednesday 17 April 2024 – 1 pm to 1:45 pm
On Wednesday 17 April we greatly enjoyed an organ recital performed by Chingyan LO from the RCM. Her Programme consisted of pieces by two C19th composers, Ritter and Liszt, who were almost exactly contemporaneous with one another. Many of us had not previously heard the music of August Gottfried Ritter, and yet he was a very influential composer and performer of German organ music in the C19th. Franz Liszt is, of course, known to most of us for his piano pieces, but here we were treated to perhaps the best known of his symphonic tone poems, transcribed for the organ. Wonderful music, beautifully played by Chingyan! Listen below to the splendid music, which filled the Cathedral yesterday; and appreciate again the excellence of Chingyan’s powerful yet sensitive musical technique. |
Programme
August Gottfried Ritter (1811-1885) | Organ Sonata No. 3 |
Franz Liszt (1811-1886) | Les Préludes |
