Organ Recital

Recital  given by Thomas Hawkes Organist and Choirmaster at Cirencester Parish Churches

Thomas was born in Paderborn, Germany, where he had his first organ lessons. After studying with Jonathan Lilley at Ely Cathedral, Thomas then completed his BA and PgDip in Music at the University of York in 2017. He subsequently became the organ scholar at St Edmundsbury Cathedral where he spent two years. Subsequent roles followed at King Edward’s, Witley, and at St Davids Cathedral in Wales.

Thomas also spent a year studying with Matthias Maierhofer and David Franke in Freiburg, Germany. During this time, he was a regular accompanist for the Freiburger Domsingknaben under Boris Böhmann, playing with them for services, concerts and tours across Europe.

Since July 2024, Thomas has been Organist and Choirmaster at Cirencester Parish Church, as well as the accompanist and guest conductor for Cirencester Choral Society.

He maintains a busy concert schedule, with upcoming performances at Westminster and Troyes Cathedrals.

He has also appeared as an organist and conductor on television and radio, as well as on the St Davids Cathedral 2022 Christmas CD.

Outside of music, Thomas enjoys reading about history and watching Star Wars and Doctor Who.
