Danilo Mascetti is an Italian pianist and fortepianist, known for his intense performances and original programming, combining traditional repertoire with less known piano works. He is a member of the International Piano Academy Lake Como, and the ‘19/’20 Carne Trust Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music of London.

Equally at home with classical piano and fortepiano, since his debut with Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra in Sala Verdi, Milan, Danilo performs all over Europe with orchestras such as Thessaloniki State Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic State Orchestra of Craiova. From 2014 he performs in China and Japan, debuts in London at Steinway Hall, in New York at Merkin Hall, Wallenstein Palace in Prague, Rome, Russia, South Africa and Morocco, with orchestras such as the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec Králové, the Nova Amadeus orchestra, the NYCA Symphony Orchestra, performing for Aspect Foundation for Music and Arts, Kyoto International Music Students Festival, New York Concert Artists. Very active as a fortepiano and continuo player, Danilo is often performing as soloist in Bach and Mozart Concertos as well as a continuo player, collaborating with Scherzo Ensemble, Brixton Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the University of Milano, and he he was generously supported by the A. Jacoba Fonds to attend the European Master in Early Music in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, graduating with a thesis on the Minuet in Beethoven’s piano works.

Highlights from recent concert seasons include debuts at the Slovenian Presidential Palace, the ZK Matthews Great Hall in South Africa, and at the MuTh Concert Hall in Vienna. He has had his debut in Turkey at the Bodrum Gümüşlük Müzik Festivali as well as in Cambridge, with Brahms Concerto n. 1 with Peter Britton, conductor, and performances of newly written piano concertos by E. Karlidag and E. Sener with the Talent Unlimited Orchestra, and the premiere of several new harpsichord works at Castello Sforzesco in Milano. Exciting performances of 2023 included Concertos by Mozart, Chopin, Haydn and C. Ph. E. Bach with historical orchestras in The Netherlands and Czechia, XIXth century informed performances of Brahms Quintet and Rachmaninoff solo works, including the Sonata n. 1, as well as the Dialogues tour and various chamber music concerts.

In 2024 Danilo goes on an extensive tour with A Diabelli Project in South Africa and various European countries; records a Schubert-Schumann album for Accento7 and gives the premiere of the cycle “Scheggie di memoria” by the Italian composer Luca Vago. He has is debut in Portugal in October performing with the Orquestra Clássica do Centro. In 2025, Danilo makes his debut for Mantova Musica and is a guest of distinguished fortepiano collections such as the Cobbe Collection and Hammerwood Park.

He regularly plays chamber music with distinguished young musicians such as Alenka Bogataj, flautist and Anna Litvinenko, historical cellist, with whom he performed in different combinations of chamber music recitals as well as soloists with orchestra. He recorded chamber music works for fortepiano and cello with Bartolomeo Dandolo Marchesi.

Danilo studied with Vsevolod Dvorkin and Natalia Trull, as well as with Vanessa Latarche and Gordon Fergus – Thompson in the UK; he is currently studying with William Grant Nabore, Bart Van Oort and Barbara Maria Willi. Danilo gained international reputation becoming prize winner at such competitions as “UNISA International Piano Competition” 2020, “Princesse Lalla Meryem” in Rabat, “Gyorgios Thymis”in Greece, “Chopin” in Rome, “Pianotalents”, “E. Pozzoli” in Seregno, “F.Liszt” in Grottamare.

During his studies he was supported by C. Bechstein, the Ann Driver Trust, the Music Talks Award, the INPDAD Italian awards, as well as by Talent Unlimited and Live Music Now.  Involved from an early age with his parents and his family in the care of foster children, Danilo Mascetti has worked since 2015 with non-profit organizations of Lombardy becoming co-founder and Artistic Director of Arte Solidale Festival (Lake Como); all the proceeds from this festival go to help minors in need.
