About our music. We play folk music rooted in the Scottish, Irish and English tradition. Expect plenty of toe tapping reels, jigs and hornpipes. Table-thumping, rabble-rousing slides and polkas, and slow melodious aires that tug at the heart strings and invoke images of the remote, wild and beautiful landscapes from whence they came. Many of the tunes we play have been passed down through the generations but made unique with each new interpretation. It is the music of ordinary folk, inspired by the simple joys, trials and tribulations of everyday life – the titles of many of the tunes bear testament to that! It is the music of community and friendship. We play ‘plugged-in’, with a synth guitar, bass and ukulele’s adding a modern twist to our more traditional ensemble of acoustic guitar, piano accordion, flutes, whistles and bodhrán. We are based in Essex. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy the making of this music.
