On Wednesday 18 December at 1pm – 2pm, as a preparation for Christmas, Michael Frith performed La Nativité du Seigneur by Olivier Messiaen
The Birth of the Lord is a major work for organ by Olivier Messiaen (1908 – 1992) and consists of nine meditations on various aspects of Christmas. Some are portraits of the characters in the narrative – the Shepherds, the Angels, the Wise Men, the Virgin and Child – while others are reflections on the meaning of Christmas – the Incarnation of the Word, God’s eternal purposes, our adoption by grace, and God dwelling in and among us.
