Christopher Hughes – Royal College of Music

  Organ Recital

Wednesday  25 October  2023 – 1 pm to 1:45 pm

On Wednesday 25 October we greatly enjoyed a wonderfully varied programme of organ music played by Christopher Hughes  from the RCM,

In addition to well-known organ pieces from Bach and Vierne, Christopher regaled us with organ music from Tomkins, Howells and William Byrd, who is, of course, very much a local composer and whose 400th anniversary falls this year.

Sound available only for some pieces

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) Toccata and Fugue in F

Thomas Tomkins (1572-1656) Voluntary

Herbert Howells (1892-1983) Tallis’s  Testament

William Byrd (c.1540-1623) Fantasia in A
Louis Vierne (1870-1937) Toccata

Refreshments were available in the Song School afterwards
