Cathedral Recital
Sophia Assitzoglou (Violin) – Owen Romhany (Trombone & Cello)
with
Stephen King (Organ)
Wednesday 10 April 2024 – 1 pm to 1:45 pm
This recital given by Sophia Assitzoglou on the Violin and Owen Romhany, who played the Trombone and then the Cello, with our Cathedral Organist Stephen King playing the organ, was very well attended by a highly appreciative audience.
Owen got us off to an excellent start playing the trombone in Holst’s Duo Concertante for Trombone and Organ. The golden appearance and mellow warmth of the instrument put us in just the right mood for the longer and more complex piece which followed, when Owen showed his musical versatility by switching to the cello as he and Sophia (violin) regaled us with the wonderfully melodious Suite for Violin, Cello and Organ by Rheinberger. Both Sophia and Owen gave us a wonderful demonstration of their musical skills in this most enjoyable recital. Congratulations to both of our youthful instrumentalists, and thanks also to Stephen King who facilitated the recital and played the organ |
